How the Ear Interprets Sound
The Ear Canal funnels the sound towards the ear drum. The ear drum is made to vibrate by the sound vibrations. Then the hammer, anvil and stirrup all pass on the sound vibrations through to the cochlea. In the cochlea there is the cilia. the sound vibrations cause the fluid in the cilia to move this is then translated from sound vibrations to electrical signals which are then passed through the auditory nerve to the brain. This is how you hear sound.
The louder the sound the more the ear drum will vibrate. If the sound is too loud then the cochlea can get damaged and a person's hearing range gradually lessons as time goes on.
